Points of Interest
Immediately upstream of Nuns Bridges, Thetford, the river was widened to form Thetford swimming pool, which remained in use until the 1970s when an indoor pool was built. The steps and rail of the pool are still visible. Immediately upstream of the swimming pool, the river runs through Nunnery Lakes Reserve, a bird reserve owned and operated by the British Trust for Ornithology, whose headquarters are in the adjacent Nunnery buildings.

Famous quotes containing the words points of, points and/or interest:
“The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of the government, in the latter, to a small number of citizens elected by the rest; secondly, the greater number of citizens and greater sphere of country over which the latter may be extended.”
—James Madison (17511836)
“In writing biography, fact and fiction shouldnt be mixed. And if they are, the fictional points should be printed in red ink, the facts printed in black ink.”
—Catherine Drinker Bowen (18971973)
“The cohort that made up the population boom is now grown up; many are in fact middle- aged. They are one reason for the enormous current interest in such topics as child rearing and families. The articulate and highly educated children of the baby boom form a huge, literate market for books on various issues in parenting and child rearing, and, as time goes on, adult development, divorce, midlife crisis, old age, and of course, death.”
—Joseph Featherstone (20th century)
