Management
The river is managed and maintained by the Environment Agency, from whom boat owners must obtain a licence in order to use the waterway. The Agency have designated the sections from Sicklesmere to Bury St Edmunds, and from Fornham St Martin to Isleham as Flood Warning Areas.
