Famous quotes containing the words rive, gauche and/or nightclub:

He looked as if he wished to rive new war material out of the wombs of the mothers.
—Anonymous. Quoted in Ellen Key, War, Peace and the Future, ch. 9 (1916)

A good man often appears gauche simply because he does not take advantage of the myriad mean little chances of making himself look stylish. Preferring truth to form, he is not constantly at work upon the façade of his appearance.
    Iris Murdoch (b. 1919)

That’s playgirl stuff, Brownie. I’ve seen them in London, Paris, Rome. They start life in a New York nightclub and end up covering the world like a paid advertisement. Not an honest feeling from her kneecap to her neck.
    John Lee Mahin (1902–1984)
