The short film garnered positive reviews from both critics and audiences who purchased the special edition of the first film; released shortly before The Ring Two. It is possible that the short film could serve as the main inspiration for the upcoming The Ring 3D; as the background of the film has been revealed to aim towards a "teen-centric" realm.
