Famous quotes containing the words guitar, playing and/or style:

    Swiftly in the nights,
In the porches of Key West,
    Behind the bougainvilleas
    After the guitar is asleep,
    Lasciviously as the wind,
    You come tormenting.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

Playing “bop” is like playing Scrabble with all the vowels missing.
    Duke Ellington (1899–1974)

His style is eminently colloquial, and no wonder it is strange to meet with in a book. It is not literary or classical; it has not the music of poetry, nor the pomp of philosophy, but the rhythms and cadences of conversation endlessly repeated.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
