Richard Hughes (footballer)
Richard Daniel Hughes (born 25 June 1979) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Football League One side Bournemouth.
He started his professional career as a junior in Italy for Atalanta before moving to Arsenal and Bournemouth. He most prominently previously featured for Portsmouth from 2002 until 2011, and had a brief loan spell with Grimsby Town in 2003. He was capped 5 times by Scotland before retiring from football in 2011, however after a year out of the game, in August 2012 it was reported that Hughes was to re-sign for his first club, AFC Bournemouth.
