Rice Belt

The Rice Belt of the United States includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, four southern U.S. states that grow a significant portion of the nation's rice crop. The name is in conformity with the Corn Belt of the Midwest, in which much of the nation's corn is grown.

Arkansas is the nation's leading rice producer, followed by California (not part of the Rice Belt), Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Missouri (bordering on, but not part of, the Rice Belt).

Famous quotes containing the words rice and/or belt:

... there has been a very special man in my life for the past year. All I’ll say about him is that he’s kind, warm, mature, someone I can trust—and he’s not a politician.
    —Donna Rice (b. c. 1962)

Boss, life is trouble. Only death is not. To be alive is to undo your belt and look for trouble.
    Michael Cacoyannis (b. 1922)
