Rivalries
Rhyl share a fierce rivalry with coast neighbours Bangor City F.C. with the two being less than 35 miles apart. Games between the two often draw crowds of over 1,000 and a few have managed to reach over 1,500 spectators, a rarity in the Welsh Premier League. Although in the past few years very few competitive games have been played between the two due to Rhyl's relegation to the Cymru Alliance. Police presence is usually quite large when the two sides meet as away fans travel in their hundreds, and on rare occasions fighting has broken out between the rival fans. Also in recent years Rhyl have shared a much friendlier derby match with local neighbours Prestatyn Town F.C. mainly due to the two sides close proximity of only 3 miles. Despite the shorter distance the Rhyl-Bangor derby is seen as the bigger of the two as it's been competed for many more years.
