The Republican Party of India (Athvale) is a political party in India, a splinter group of the old Ambedkarite Republican Party of India. The president of the party is Ramdas Athvale.
After 2004 election, it has a small representation in the Lok Sabha and was a constituent of the ruling United Progressive Alliance. Its presence is limited to Maharashtra.
Recently, all factions of RPI except Prakash Ambedkar's Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangha reunited to form a united "Republican Party of India". RPI (Athvale) is also merged in this united RPI.
In 2011 the party has aligned itself with the BJP-led NDA.
In oct 2012 the party president Athvale thretned Reality show BIG BOSS to expel cartoonist Aseem trivedi from the show.
