Rekha Bhardwaj - Professional Career

Professional Career

Rekha was a student of music at Hindu College, Delhi. She released her first album titled 'Ishqa Ishqa' in 2002 and won critical acclaim. Her song in the movie Omkara, "Namak Issq Ka", written by Gulzar and composed by her husband, Vishal, won her accolades. She credits both of them with her success. She considers Lata Mangeshkar her idol.

The song "Raat Ki Jogan" from the album, Ishqa Ishqa was conceived in 1994, almost 10 years before it released, when Vishal Bhardwaj had started composing Baba Bulleh Shah's poetry for Rekha's album. She used to go with Vishal for music sittings with Gulzar for his movie Maachis where one day, Gulzar said he would write the words for Rekha's album.

She has also worked as a music assistant to Vishal on the film Hu Tu Tu.

Famous quotes containing the words professional and/or career:

I sometimes wonder whether, in the still, sleepless hours of the night, the consciences of ... professional gossips do not stalk them. I myself believe in a final reckoning, when we shall be held accountable for our misdeeds. Do they? If so, they have cause to worry over many scoops that brought them a day’s dubious laurels and perhaps destroyed someone’s peace forever.
    Mary Pickford (1893–1979)

“Never hug and kiss your children! Mother love may make your children’s infancy unhappy and prevent them from pursuing a career or getting married!” That’s total hogwash, of course. But it shows on extreme example of what state-of-the-art “scientific” parenting was supposed to be in early twentieth-century America. After all, that was the heyday of efficiency experts, time-and-motion studies, and the like.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
