The red howlers are three species of howler monkeys that formerly were considered conspecific:
- Venezuelan red howler (Alouatta seniculus) – western Amazon Basin.
- Guyanan red howler (Alouatta macconnelli) – north-eastern South America.
- Bolivian red howler (Alouatta sara) – Santa Cruz Department, Bolivia.
Famous quotes containing the word red:
“The true colour of life is the colour of the body, the colour of the covered red, the implicit and not explicit red of the living heart and the pulses. It is the modest colour of the unpublished blood.”
—Alice Meynell (1847–1922)
