Characters

Red Earth takes place on an alternate version of Earth sometime in the 14th century (the Japanese version states a post-apocalyptic 1999 however) where the world did not experience any technological revolutions or Renaissance and was still in a medieval/mythological state. A new country has risen by the evil Scion, who sends out various monsters to take over the world. Four heroes emerge to defend Earth.

Famous quotes containing the word characters:

Thus we may define the real as that whose characters are independent of what anybody may think them to be.
    Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914)

Of the other characters in the book there is, likewise, little to say. The most endearing one is obviously the old Captain Maksim Maksimich, stolid, gruff, naively poetical, matter-of- fact, simple-hearted, and completely neurotic.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

My characters never die screaming in rage. They attempt to pull themselves back together and go on. And that’s basically a conservative view of life.
    Jane Smiley (b. 1949)
