Famous quotes containing the words red, deer and/or electoral:

If all hearts were open and all desires known—as they would be if people showed their souls—how many gapings, sighings, clenched fists, knotted brows, broad grins, and red eyes should we see in the market-place!

There is a road that turning always
Cuts off the country of Again.
Archers stand there on every side
And as it runs time’s deer is slain,
And lies where it has lain.
    Edwin Muir (1887–1959)

Power is action; the electoral principle is discussion. No political action is possible when discussion is permanently established.
