Death
After a brief illness, Rebecca Boone died at the age of 74 on March 18, 1813, at her daughter Jemima Boone Callaway's home near the village of Charette (near present day Marthasville, Missouri). She was buried at the Bryan family cemetery nearby overlooking the Missouri River. Her and her husband's remains were reinterred and buried again in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1845.

Famous quotes containing the word death:
“Solomon! where is thy throne? It is gone in the wind.
Babylon! where is thy might? It is gone in the wind.
Happy in death are they only whose hearts have consigned
All Earths affections and longings and cares to the wind.”
—James Clarence Mangan (18031849)
“Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“It is conceivable at least that a late generation, such as we presumably are, has particular need of the sketch, in order not to be strangled to death by inherited conceptions which preclude new births.... The sketch has direction, but no ending; the sketch as reflection of a view of life that is no longer conclusive, or is not yet conclusive.”
—Max Frisch (19111991)
