Raymond Acevedo - Music Career

Music Career

Acevedo joined the well-known Puerto Rican boy band, Menudo, in 1985, replacing the popular Ray Reyes. Acevedo joined Ricky Martin and Robby Rosa, among others, in the band.

He came into Menudo towards the end of what is generally considered the band's "golden era," when the group was undergoing a change that eventually resulted in Menudo's producing songs that were arguably edgier than their previous hits. Acevedo did participate in two of Menudo's pre-rock era albums, including Ayer Y Hoy.

On this album, Acevedo sang lead on the Menudo hit "En San Juan me Enamore" ("I Fell in Love In San Juan").

Having become a teen idol in Puerto Rico and the rest of Latin America, as well as a favorite among Menudo fans, Acevedo found that his departure from the group was followed closely by the media. He left on August 2, 1988, a few months short of his seventeenth birthday.

As of February 19, 2007, Acevedo was in Brazil pursuing promotional opportunities. He returned to the United States in early 2007.

Raymond is currently in Florida, preparing for music performances and art shows across the state.

Famous quotes containing the words music and/or career:

I’ve come close to matching the feeling of that night in 1944 in music, when I first heard Diz and Bird, but I’ve never got there.... I’m always looking for it, listening and feeling for it, though, trying to always feel it in and through the music I play every day.
    Miles Davis (1926–1991)

Whether lawyer, politician or executive, the American who knows what’s good for his career seeks an institutional rather than an individual identity. He becomes the man from NBC or IBM. The institutional imprint furnishes him with pension, meaning, proofs of existence. A man without a company name is a man without a country.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
