Subdivisions
The district is divided into seven tehsils:
- Gujar Khan
- Kahuta
- Kallar Syedan
- Kotli Sattian
- Murree
- Rawalpindi Town
- Taxila
Kallar Syedan became the seventh Tehsil of Rawalpindi district on 1 July 2007; prior to this date it was part of Kahuta Tehsil.
