Rapid Electronics - History

History

Rapid Electronics was established by Mike Lee and Chris Stevenson in 1979. The company at this time was based in a converted barn at Eynsford, Kent, holding stock of around 200 products. Advertising in the retail electronics press generated sales and a small single sheet catalogue was mailed to customers. By 2012 Rapid had increased its stock-holding to over 50,000 products and moved premises several times. Employing around 150 people, the company is currently located in premises close to the A12 and the Colchester Community Stadium. In late 2012, the company was taken over by German retailer Conrad Electronic.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

What we call National-Socialism is the poisonous perversion of ideas which have a long history in German intellectual life.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

The history is always the same the product is always different and the history interests more than the product. More, that is, more. Yes. But if the product was not different the history which is the same would not be more interesting.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

A man acquainted with history may, in some respect, be said to have lived from the beginning of the world, and to have been making continual additions to his stock of knowledge in every century.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
