Table of Randomized Block Designs
One useful way to look at a randomized block experiment is to consider it as a collection of completely randomized experiments, each run within one of the blocks of the total experiment.
| Name of Design | Number of Factors k | Number of Runs n |
|---|---|---|
| 2-factor RBD | 2 | L1 * L2 |
| 3-factor RBD | 3 | L1 * L2 * L3 |
| 4-factor RBD | 4 | L1 * L2 * L3 * L4 |
| k-factor RBD | k | L1 * L2 * * Lk |
with
- L1 = number of levels (settings) of factor 1
- L2 = number of levels (settings) of factor 2
- L3 = number of levels (settings) of factor 3
- L4 = number of levels (settings) of factor 4
- Lk = number of levels (settings) of factor k

Famous quotes containing the words table, block and/or designs:
“In New York, pretending to be above the struggle means no seat on the bus and a table next to the kitchen.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
“Dug from the tomb of taste-refining time,
Each form is exquisite, each block sublime.
Or good, or bad, disfigurd, or depravd,
All art, is at its resurrection savd;
All crownd with glory in the critics heavn,
Each merit magnified, each fault forgiven.”
—Martin Archer, Sir Shee (17691850)
“I have no scheme about it,no designs on men at all; and, if I had, my mode would be to tempt them with the fruit, and not with the manure. To what end do I lead a simple life at all, pray? That I may teach others to simplify their lives?and so all our lives be simplified merely, like an algebraic formula? Or not, rather, that I may make use of the ground I have cleared, to live more worthily and profitably?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
