He is now Managing Editor. The Indian Express has thrice won the Vienna-based International Press Institute's award for Excellence in Journalism in 2004 (for its coverage of the Gujarat riots), 2006 (for its investigation into corruption in the distribution of flood relief in Bihar) and 2009 (for its sustained investigation into the blasts triggered off by alleged extremist Hindu groups). Its journalists have won several national and international awards.
