Airports
In 2012, Turkmenistan had an estimated 26 airports. One heliport was in operation. In the mid-1990s, the Ashgabat airport was enlarged and modernized. Smaller international airports are located at Dashhowuz and Turkmenabat. Flights are available from Ashgabat to China, Germany, India, Kazakhistan, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan.
