History
Formerly known as 3UZ, it is Melbourne's oldest commercial radio station, commencing in March 1925. In 1986 the Victorian thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing codes purchased the station and racing was re-introduced in 1988.
It become known as "Radio Sport 927" in the 1990s. The station also gained a number of retransmitters in country Victoria, and later Tasmania (branded as TOTE Sport Radio) and the ACT (branded as ACTTAB Radio). Despite the differing radio frequencies (and interstate branding), they all used the "Radio Sport 927" name on air, before briefly becoming "Radio Sport National" in the late 2000s.
In January 2012, the network was renamed "RSN Racing & Sport". This coincided with the pending sale of Tote Tasmania to Tatts Group, which would see RSN replaced on its Tasmanian frequencies with TattsBet's Radio TAB effective 27 March 2012.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“We dont know when our name came into being or how some distant ancestor acquired it. We dont understand our name at all, we dont know its history and yet we bear it with exalted fidelity, we merge with it, we like it, we are ridiculously proud of it as if we had thought it up ourselves in a moment of brilliant inspiration.”
—Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
“In history the great moment is, when the savage is just ceasing to be a savage, with all his hairy Pelasgic strength directed on his opening sense of beauty;and you have Pericles and Phidias, and not yet passed over into the Corinthian civility. Everything good in nature and in the world is in that moment of transition, when the swarthy juices still flow plentifully from nature, but their astrigency or acridity is got out by ethics and humanity.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“The history of mens opposition to womens emancipation is more interesting perhaps than the story of that emancipation itself.”
—Virginia Woolf (18821941)
