Quincy School

Quincy School is a historic school at 94 Newbury Avenue in Quincy, Massachusetts.

It was built in 1906 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. A longtime elementary school, it closed in 1981 following city cutbacks in the wake of Proposition 2 1/2, and was subsequently sold to private developers for conversion to condominiums.

Famous quotes containing the word school:

But I am not tragically colored. There is no great sorrow dammed up in my soul, nor lurking behind my eyes. I do not mind at all. I do not belong to the sobbing school of negrohood who hold that nature somehow has given them a lowdown dirty deal.... No, I do not weep at the world—I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1907–1960)
