Qatada Ibn Al-Nu'man - Battle of Uhud

Battle of Uhud

Further information: Battle of Uhud

His surname was "Abdul Khateb" (d. 632), hafiz (one who memorized the Quran by heart), and transmitter of numerous hadith. At the Battle of Uhud in 625, Qatadah was struck in his eye and his eyeball was hanging down on to his cheek. The Companions RidhwanAllahiAlayhiAjmaeen wanted to cut it off, but first they asked Prophet Muhammad's SalalahuAlayhiWaSalim's opinion, and He SalalahuAlayhiWaSalim told Them RidhwanAllahiAlayhiAjmaeen not to do so. He SalalahuAlaihiWaSalim then made du'a (supplicated) on Qatadah's RadiAllahuAnhs behalf and placed his eyeball back in its place. Afterwards it is said that He RadiAllahuAnh could not tell which eye had been struck.

One weak hadith narrates that He RadiAllahuAnh received a miraculous stick from The Prophet Muhammad SalalahuAlaihiWaSalim
