Puzzle Pirates - Crews

Crews

Crews are the central artery in Puzzle Pirates. The purposes of crews vary widely but the general purpose is for the crew to acquire fame, create a good social atmosphere, and join or create a flag. The following are the ranks that one may have within a crew. (Note that the requirements for achieving certain ranks differs with each crew, and that ranks are assigned by the captain or by a vote, depending on the crew's political system.)

  • Captain is the highest rank in a crew. To become a Captain, one must either create their own crew, or in some way obtain Captain rank from another Captain. There can only be one captain in a crew. Captains may do anything an officer can do, and has the final decision in crews whose politics are "Autocratic"
  • The rank Senior Officer is the second highest rank. The Senior Officers are the Captain's lieutenants. The senior officer has all the privileges of a Fleet officer, with the addition of the ability of voting on issues within the crew if the politics are "Oligarchic" and the ability to change the ranks of lower ranked pirates. Senior Officers have these privleges plus those of all ranks below it.
  • The rank Fleet Officer is the Third highest rank in the crew. Fleet Officers can remove money from ships, meaning that it is wise to trust the pirate before promoting to this rank. They also have the privileges of all ranks below it.
  • The rank Officer allows the person to sail a ship, give orders, use the officer and flag officer chat function, can expel jobbers or crewmates, and run every aspect of a pillage. They can also change the titles of lower ranked crewmates. They cannot remove PoE from the coffers of a ship they do not own.
  • The rank Pirate is given often to any player who subscribes or buys a Pirate badge. The rank allows those who subscribed or have a badge to perform the gunning puzzle without an order. Some crews promote a person to pirate upon entry. Pirates may vote on issues in a crew whose politics are "Democratic"
  • The rank Cabin Person is usually the starting rank of all new pirates in a crew. Sometimes the rank is given as a punishment to players. On Subscription oceans, this is the only rank available to non-subscribed players.
  • The rank Jobbing Pirate (also referred to as a "jobber") is not a full time member of the crew, but can still get paid by helping the crew while at sea. If you are a "jobber" of a crew, as soon as you log off, you will be removed from the crew. An officer (or above) may invite any pirate of any rank to job for their crew.

To start a crew, a pirate must have achieved narrow experience in bilging, sailing, carpentry, swordfighting, navigation and battle navigation and any other piracy skills, own a deed to a ship, and have a captain's badge and ten doubloons on doubloon oceans or be a subscriber on subscriber oceans.

Famous quotes containing the word crews:

    Shea—they call him Scholar Jack—
Went down the list of the dead.
    Officers, seamen, gunners, marines,
The crews of the gig and yawl,
The bearded man and the lad in his teens,
    Carpenters, coal-passers—all.
