The Puget Sound King crab, Lopholithodes mandtii, is a species of king crab which lives in the oceans off the Pacific coast of North America from Alaska to central California. Adults are orange, red and purple in colour. They are larger than the similar brown box crab.
Famous quotes containing the words sound, king and/or crab:
“Wild as it was, it was hard for me to get rid of the associations of the settlements. Any steady and monotonous sound, to which I did not distinctly attend, passed for a sound of human industry.... Our minds anywhere, when left to themselves, are always thus busily drawing conclusions from false premises.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Some friendship is closely akin to treachery.”
—Robert N. Lee. Rowland V. Lee. King Edward IV (Ian Hunter)
“I love no roast but a nut-brown toast, and a crab laid in the fire;
A little bread shall do me stead! much bread I do not desire;”
—William Stevenson (1530?1575)
