Interpretations
The seventy weeks has often been applied to the period between the Babylonian exile and the death of Antiochus IV Epiphanes in 164 BCE. This view is supported by the Jewish Encyclopedia, the Jewish Publication Society study bible, the Catholic New American Bible commentary and some evangelical Christian scholars (Vanderwaal, Goldingay, Lucas).
