Priscilla and Aquila - Saints in Some Churches

Saints in Some Churches

Priscilla and Aquila are regarded as saints in most Christian churches that canonize saints. The Orthodox Church commemorates them both together on February 13. The Lutheran Church commemorates them the same day along with Apollos. Other Orthodox Churches commemorate Aquila only as an apostle on July 14. In the Catholic Church the Roman Martyrology lists their feast as July 8.

Famous quotes containing the words saints and/or churches:

The saints with their beau-peers whole worlds outwear,
And things unseen do see, and things unheard do hear.
    Giles Fletcher, The Younger (1585–1623)

People fall out of windows, trees tumble down,
Summer is changed to winter, the young grow old
The air is full of children, statues, roofs
And snow. The theatre is spinning round,
Colliding with deaf-mute churches and optical trains.
The most massive sopranos are singing songs of scales.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
