Princess Theatre - Theatre Building

Theatre Building

Though fairly drab on the outside, looking like a six-story office building, except for its marquees and gaudy electric sign over the main entrance, the Princess was elegant inside. The decor included neoclassical inspired plasterwork and antique French tapestries hung from the side walls.

Famous quotes containing the words theatre and/or building:

The theatre is the best way of showing the gap between what is said and what is seen to be done, and that is why, ragged and gap-toothed as it is, it has still a far healthier potential than some poorer, abandoned arts.
    David Hare (b. 1947)

And no less firmly do I hold that we shall one day recognize in Freud’s life-work the cornerstone for the building of a new anthropology and therewith of a new structure, to which many stones are being brought up today, which shall be the future dwelling of a wiser and freer humanity.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)
