Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg - Life and Education

Life and Education

Through her father, Grand Duke Henri, Princess Alexandra is related to every currently reigning European monarch.

Alexandra has four brothers – three older, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Félix and Louis and one younger – Sébastien. She is currently third in line to the throne of Luxembourg, after her two eldest brothers; a change in the succession laws introduced absolute primogeniture beginning with the descendants of Grand Duke Henri, therefore Alexandra precedes her younger brother Sébastien. Her brother Prince Louis gave up his place in the line of succession; Princess Alexandra is the godmother to his son, Prince Gabriel of Nassau.

Princess Alexandra performed her primary school at Angelsberg and finished her secondary education at the Lycée Vauban in Luxembourg. She received her baccalauréat with honors in the literature stream.

Famous quotes containing the words life and, life and/or education:

The principal thing children are taught by hearing these lullabies is respect. They are taught to respect certain things in life and certain people. By giving respect, they hope to gain self-respect and through self-respect, they gain the respect of others. Self-respect is one of the qualities my people stress and try to nurture, and one of the controls an Indian has as he grows up. Once you lose your self-respect, you just go down.
    Henry Old Coyote (20th century)

I feel my belief in sacrifice and struggle getting stronger. I despise the kind of existence that clings to the miserly trifles of comfort and self-interest. I think that a man should not live beyond the age when he begins to deteriorate, when the flame that lighted the brightest moment of his life has weakened.
    Fidel Castro (b. 1926)

Bigotry is the disease of ignorance, of morbid minds; enthusiasm of the free and buoyant. Education and free discussion are the antidotes of both.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
