Preston Lions Start the new season with the announcement of Kingdom Caravans as its Major sponsor along with Pacific Metal Groups these sponsors will feature on the front and back of the shirts for the 2012 season.Debt Demolition of $150,000 is well under away with the club raising money through major events throughout the 2012 season. The arrival of former Preston Lions player turned coach Tony Necevski put in place for the 2012 season.
Preston Lions football club started life in the Victorian State League Div 2 and found it to be a very difficult league, after they were relegated last season from Division 1 with players going out and financial difficulties not helping. Preston are now progressing youth into its senior team to try and bolster the squad up. Preston Lions FC Finished the season in 12th place on 9pts and deducted 6pts for misconduct. Unfortunately in 2011 on field results combined with off field debts didn't help the club survive a 2nd season in Division 1 and were relegated for the first time since 1973. Preston Lions hope that in 2012 they can survive the drop, as the club in its 50+ years have never been relegated to the Victorian State League Division 3.
Preston's appointment of Josip Biskic as the club's new coach is found to be a good choice, by members and loyal fans with no disrespect to former coach Tony Necevski who was in charge of the team for 14 rounds and did a fantastic job. Preston now look to build on after the appointment of Biskic in there remaining 8 games before seasons end, to safely avoid the drop for the 2nd consecutive year and its drop into Division 3 N/W.
Members and supporters will await and hold their breath until the end of Round 22 of the 2012 season in hope the club will not be relegated all attention will be on the veteran coach Josip Biskic.
In the last game of the season and the most important game in the clubs history,the Preston Lions FC Stay up in the Victorian State League Division 2, after they defeated Ballarat Red Devils 3-0 in front of approx 200 fans and live to fight another day, in the hope of a return back to State League 1 in 2013.
