The Terceira Divisão Portuguesa (in English: Portuguese Third Division) is the fourth level of the Portuguese football league system. The Third Division was initially the third level of the Portuguese pyramid but with the creation of the Segunda Liga in 1990–91, it became the fourth level. The Third Division is currently divided into seven sections (Series A, B, C, D, E, F and Azores). There are 82 teams in total with Sections A to F each comprising 12 teams while the Azores Section consists of 10 teams.
The Madeira and Azores Sections only accept teams from their autonomous regions while the other 6 sections serve Mainland Portugal. The 94 teams battle for promotion to the Portuguese Second Division but must also avoid relegation to the District Leagues which are the fifth level of the Portuguese football league system.

Famous quotes containing the word division:
“Affection, indulgence, and humor alike are powerless against the instinct of children to rebel. It is essential to their minds and their wills as exercise is to their bodies. If they have no reasons, they will invent them, like nations bound on war. It is hard to imagine families limp enough always to be at peace. Wherever there is character there will be conflict. The best that children and parents can hope for is that the wounds of their conflict may not be too deep or too lasting.”
