Famous quotes containing the words guest, writer and/or program:
“‘Ye have robbed,’ said he, ‘ye have slaughtered and made an end,
Take your ill-got plunder, and bury the dead:
What will ye more of your guest and sometime friend?’
‘Blood for our blood,’ they said.”
—Sir Henry Newbolt (1862–1938)
“The Journal is not essentially a confession, a story about oneself. It is a Memorial. What does the writer have to remember? Himself, who he is when he is not writing, when he is living his daily life, when he alive and real, and not dying and without truth.”
—Maurice Blanchot (b. 1907)
“But one day he met a man who was a whole lot badder,
And now he’s dead, and we ain’t none the sadder.”
—Administration in the State of Texa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
