Poole is a borough constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The present constituency has existed since 1950, but Poole was previously a parliamentary borough from 1455 to 1885.
Until 1950, most of this constituency was in the East Dorset seat.
Famous quotes containing the word parliament:
“A Parliament is that to the Commonwealth which the soul is to the body.... It behoves us therefore to keep the facility of that soul from distemper.”
