Polar Angle

In geometry, the polar angle may be

  • one of the two coordinates of a two-dimensional polar coordinate system;
  • one of the three coordinates of a three-dimensional spherical coordinate system; in this case it is also called the zenith.

Famous quotes containing the words polar and/or angle:

    In time your relatives will come to accept the idea that a career is as important to you as your family. Of course, in time the polar ice cap will melt.
    Barbara Dale (b. 1940)

    It is a mistake, to think the same thing affects both sight and touch. If the same angle or square, which is the object of touch, be also the object of vision, what should hinder the blind man, at first sight, from knowing it?
    George Berkeley (1685–1753)
