In addition to Microsoft Excel and numberGo Publisher, competing software programs such as Apache OpenOffice Calc provide similar functionality; the implementation in Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice up to release 3.3 is called DataPilot. In version 3.4 of both LibreOffice and OpenOffice, DataPilot is renamed 'Pivot Table'.
In 2010 numberGo launched their numberGo Publisher 2.0, an updated application with enhanced pivot, dynamic charting and simplified user interface. Other companies such as Quantrix provide similar implementations.
Pivot functionality also operates in other data visualization tools, including business intelligence packages.
Google Docs initially allowed the creation of basic pivot tables via the pivot table gadget from Panorama called Panorama Analytics, but as of 2011 this gadget provided limited functionality and was extremely slow with large amounts of data. In May 2011, Google announced the roll-out of a natively hosted pivot table feature in the Google spreadsheets editor.
ZK, an Ajax framework, also allows the embedding of pivot tables in Web applications.
PostgreSQL, an object-relational database management system, allows the creation of pivot tables using the tablefunc module.

Famous quotes containing the words application and/or support:
“We will not be imposed upon by this vast application of forces. We believe that most things will have to be accomplished still by the application called Industry. We are rather pleased, after all, to consider the small private, but both constant and accumulated, force which stands behind every spade in the field. This it is that makes the valleys shine, and the deserts really bloom.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
