Artistic Work
Following his artistic urges from an early age, Pierre Toutain-Dorbec photographed and drew his family and his native countryside, Normandy. Throughout his career, Toutain-Dorbec's photographic work has remained true to his original training. His photographs are primarily black-and-white taken on traditional film. He maintains his own darkroom where he processes his film and silver gelatins himself. Toutain-Dorbec so far has published over forty books and exhibited his photographs, drawings, sculptures, and paintings throughout Asia, Europe, America, and North Africa.

Famous quotes containing the words artistic and/or work:
“Our art is the finest, the noblest, the most suggestive, for it is the synthesis of all the arts. Sculpture, painting, literature, elocution, architecture, and music are its natural tools. But while it needs all of those artistic manifestations in order to be its whole self, it asks of its priest or priestess one indispensable virtue: faith.”
—Sarah Bernhardt (18451923)
“The belief that there are final and immutable answers, and that the professional expert has them, is one that mothers and professionals tend to reinforce in each other. They both have a need to believe it. They both seem to agree, too, that if the professionals prescription doesnt work it is probably because of the mothers inadequacy.”
—Elaine Heffner (20th century)
