Pierre Plantard - Fame

Fame

By 1958, Plantard was back living in Paris where he was actively supporting General de Gaulle, establishing a Committee of Public Safety (based in Paris) during the Algerian Crisis using the name "Captain Way".

In 1959, Plantard edited a second series of the journal Circuit, subtitled Publication Périodique Culturelle de la Fédération des Forces Françaises. It never mentioned the Priory of Sion in its pages, and dealt with paranormal and mystical topics. At the same time, Plantard was offering his services as a clairvoyant under the name of "Chyren".

It was in this second series of Circuit that Plantard claimed he received a letter from de Gaulle dated 27 June 1959. Louis Vazart referred to a letter dated 29 July 1958, also referring to another letter from de Gaulle dated 3 August 1958 where he thanked Plantard for his support during the Algerian crisis. None of these letters were reproduced.

Famous quotes containing the word fame:

Fame sometimes hath created something out of nothing. She hath made whole countries more than nature ever did, especially near the poles, and then hath peopled them likewise with inhabitants of her own invention, pigmies, giants, and amazons: yea, fame is sometimes like unto a mushroom, which Pliny recounts to be the greatest miracle in nature, because growing and having no root, as fame no ground of her reports.
    Thomas Fuller (1608–1661)

The drying up a single tear has more
Of honest fame than shedding seas of gore.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

Certainly fame is like a river, that beareth up things light and swoln, and drowns things weighty and solid.
    Francis Bacon (1561–1626)
