The physical training uniform is a military uniform used during calisthenics drills and, in some cases, very casual periods of time (off-duty time during Initial Entry Training in the U.S. Army, for example). The United States Army, U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force require use of a physical training (PT) uniform during unit exercise (including formation runs, calisthenics, and conditioning exercises). Some units will purchase a unique t-shirt with the unit insignia and motto. For special events, this shirt is part of the uniform. Occasionally, exercise will be conducted in that branch's utility uniforms, normally with the blouse removed and the undershirt exposed (also known as "boots and utes").
Famous quotes containing the words physical, training and/or uniform:
“The real pleasure of being Mick Jagger was in having everything but being tempted by nothing ... a smouldering ill will which silk clothes, fine food, wine, women, and every conceivable physical pampering somehow aggravated ... a drained and languorous, exquisitely photogenic ennui.”
—Anonymous Chronicler. Quoted in Philip Norman, The Life and Good Times of the Rolling Stones (1989)
“At present I feel like a caged animal, bound up by the luxury, comfort and respectability of my position. I cant get the training that I want without neglecting my duty.”
—Beatrice Potter Webb (18581943)
“Truly man is a marvelously vain, diverse, and undulating object. It is hard to found any constant and uniform judgment on him.”
—Michel de Montaigne (15331592)
