Phyllis Summers - Casting

Casting

Michelle Stafford was the first and is the most notable actress to portray Phyllis. She debuted on October 17, 1994, and the producers initially intended for the character to come and leave quickly, though when she became a fan favorite they opted for Stafford to stay. In 1997, Stafford left the soap to pursue other career opportunities, and the role was recast with Sandra Nelson, who assumed the role from March 21, 1997 to February 22, 1999. In 2000, Stafford returned to the role. In 2009, Stafford signed a new contract with The Young and the Restless, furthering her portrayal of Phyllis for the foreseeable future. Afterward, she took a brief leave of absence for a few weeks.

Famous quotes containing the word casting:

This I do know and can say to you: Our country is in more danger now than at any time since the Declaration of Independence. We don’t dare follow the Lindberghs, Wheelers and Nyes, casting suspicion, sowing discord around the leadership of Franklin D. Roosevelt. We don’t want revolution among ourselves.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

For the gods, though slow to see, see well, whenever a man casting aside worship turns folly.
    Sophocles (497–406/5 B.C.)

Reason sits firm and holds the reins, and she will not let the feelings burst away and hurry her to wild chasms. The passions may rage furiously, like true heathens, as they are; and the desires may imagine all sorts of vain things: but judgement shall still have the last word in every argument, and the casting vote in every decision.
    Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855)
