The Phu Kradueng National Park is located in the area around the mountain. Phu Kradueng is a popular camping spot for Thai people and the temperature of the plateau at the top is chilly, which is pleasant during the hot season. Average daily temperature is 20 °C in the daytime. Between December and January the nightly temperature can sink to 2 °C. The mountaintop is covered in mist both during the rainy season as well as during the cooler months. The park is closed to visitors during the rainy season (1 June - 30 September).

Famous quotes containing the words protected and/or area:

U.S. international and security policy ... has as its primary goal the preservation of what we might call “the Fifth Freedom,” understood crudely but with a fair degree of accuracy as the freedom to rob, to exploit and to dominate, to undertake any course of action to ensure that existing privilege is protected and advanced.
    Noam Chomsky (b. 1928)

During the Civil War the area became a refuge for service- dodging Texans, and gangs of bushwhackers, as they were called, hid in its fastnesses. Conscript details of the Confederate Army hunted the fugitives and occasional skirmishes resulted.
—Administration in the State of Texa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
