Phoenix Eclipse

The Phoenix Eclipse was an American Basketball Association (ABA) team based in Phoenix, Arizona. The team began play in the fall of 2001 and played in the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. However, it has since folded and is defunct.

The team nickname was a play on the name of the NBA's Phoenix Suns, which played at the Coliseum for decades before moving to the America West Arena (now U.S. Airways Center) in 1991.

Famous quotes containing the words phoenix and/or eclipse:

And there’s a score of duchesses, surpassing womankind,
Or who have found a painter to make them so for pay
And smooth out stain and blemish with the elegance of his mind:
I knew a phoenix in my youth, so let them have their day.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)
