Peters and Lee - Early Success

Early Success

They entered the TV talent show Opportunity Knocks, which they won for a then record of seven times with such songs as "All Change Places", "I'm Confessin'", "Let It Be Me" and "All I Ever Need is You". Following their TV success, a record contract was soon signed with Philips Records. This quickly led to a number one hit, "Welcome Home" - which sold over 800,000 copies in Britain. A successful first album, "We Can Make It", followed. This also reached the number one position, selling over 250,000 copies.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or success:

    Foolish prater, What dost thou
    So early at my window do?
    Cruel bird, thou’st ta’en away
    A dream out of my arms to-day;
    A dream that ne’er must equall’d be
    By all that waking eyes may see.
    Thou this damage to repair
    Nothing half so sweet and fair,
    Nothing half so good, canst bring,
    Tho’ men say thou bring’st the Spring.
    Abraham Cowley (1618–1667)

    The I’m-going-to-win-no-matter-how-I-have-to-do-it attitude just doesn’t seem to fit. For me, a contest isn’t a success unless it was fun, whether or not I win.
    Margo Godfrey Oberg (b. c. 1955)
