Peter John Wood (9 April 1950–1993) was an English musician, a Keyboardist born in Middlesex, England. In his early years he lived with his parents in Hythe Field Avenue, Egham, Surrey. He was a member of Quiver, and Natural Gas, before he began to work closely with Al Stewart, Roger Waters, as well as Cyndi Lauper, Jonathan Kelly, Tommy Shaw and Bob Dylan.
Wood is the co-writer of the 1976 Al Stewart single "Year of the Cat".
He was one of the original members of the "surrogate band" (also known as the "shadow band") (Willie Wilson, Andy Bown, Snowy White and Peter Wood), who featured as a supporting/backing band in Pink Floyd's The Wall live shows in 1980.
Famous quotes containing the words peter and/or wood:
“That matches are made in heaven, may be, but my wife would have been just the wife for Peter the Great, or Peter Piper. How would she have set in order that huge littered empire of the one, and with indefatigable painstaking picked the peck of pickled peppers for the other.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“It would be as wise to set up an accomplished lawyer to saw wood as a business as to condemn an educated and sensible woman to spend all her time boiling potatoes and patching old garments. Yet this is the lot of many a one who incessantly stitches and boils and bakes, compelled to thrust back out of sight the aspirations which fill her soul.”
—Sarah M. Grimke (17921873)
