Personal Life
Strauss was born in Croton-on-Hudson, New York to a Jewish family. His father, who immigrated from Germany, was a wine importer. Strauss graduated from the Hackley School in 1965 and Northwestern University in 1969.
He married actress Rachel Ticotin on December 31, 1998. He had been married twice before, with his second marriage producing two children.
