Madonna wore Peter Som gloves in the James Bond music video "Die Another Day." Many of Peter's designs were worn by Leighton Meester in her portrayal of Blair Waldorf on the hit CW show Gossip Girl. Sudanese model Alek Wek wore a plunging white Peter Som dress to the CFDA Awards in 2002. Nip/Tuck star Joely Richardson wore a pale-blush Peter Som floor-sweeper to the Met Gala in 2007. Som dressed Maggie Gyllenhaal in a plum tea-length frock for the Met Costume Institute Gala in 2008. In February 2012, United State First Lady Michelle Obama wore a custom floral print Peter Som coat and dress to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture. Later, in September 2012, Michelle Obama wore a custom Peter Som purple ombre ensemble to mark the 11th Anniversary of 9/11 with a moment of silence at the White House.Peter Som's runway shows are highly anticipated by young starlets and fresh fashion icons. True Grit starlet Hailee Steinfeld and comedienne Allison Williams from the HBO series Girls were seen in the front row supporting the designer at his Spring 2013 runway show. Jennifer Nettles, country sensation from the group Sugarland, and actress Krysten Ritter both wore Peter Som designs to his Fall 2012 runway show.
