Peter Schwerdtfeger

Peter Schwerdtfeger currently holds a chair in Theoretical Chemistry at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand, serves as Director of the Center of Theoretical Chemistry and Physics, member of the Institute for Advanced Study, and the President of the New Zealand Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He took his first degree in Chemical Engineering (Aalen), and studied both chemistry and mathematics at Stuttgart University where he received his PhD in theoretical chemistry. He held a position as a software analyst at Stuttgart University before he received a Feodor-Lynen fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to join Auckland University. He earned many awards, amongst them the Prince & Princess of Wales Science Award, a DSc from Marburg University, the New Zealand Hector Memorial Medal, Fellowship of the Royal Society New Zealand, a James Cook Fellowship and most recent a Humboldt Prize and the Fukui Medal. He published over 250 papers in international journals and served on international societies and editorial boards.
