Peter Pan Bus Lines

Peter Pan Bus Lines is a long-distance bus carrier headquartered in Springfield, Massachusetts. It operates in the northeastern United States. Over four million passengers per year travel on Peter Pan's bus routes.

The company was founded as Yellow Cab Air Line in Springfield, Massachusetts, where the company remains based, and was purchased by Peter Carmen Picknelly in 1933. The Picknelly family still owns the company. The company logo is based on an illustration by Roy Best. In the early years, the buses were given names from the stories but this tradition ended as the company grew.

Peter Pan was affiliated with Trailways beginning in the 1990s, but ended that affiliation in 2005.

I don’t pan out on the prophets
An’ free-will, an’ that sort of thing—
But I b’lieve in God an’ the angels,
Ever sence one night last spring.
    John Milton Hay (1838–1905)

In the dime stores and bus stations,
    People talk of situations,
    Read books, repeat quotations,
    Draw conclusions on the wall.

There they lived on, those New England people, farmer lives, father and grandfather and great-grandfather, on and on without noise, keeping up tradition, and expecting, beside fair weather and abundant harvests, we did not learn what. They were contented to live, since it was so contrived for them, and where their lines had fallen.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
