He is most famous for playing for the North Queensland Cowboys from 1995–2002, where he is now Football Operations Manager. He is listed by the Cowboys as one of their players of the decade. Peter played his early football for Tully Tigers Junior Rugby League.
In 2001 Jones was one of three players who testified against Wests Tigers player John Hopoate, who was found guilty of unsportsmanlike interference, in that Hopoate had inserted his finger into their anuses during the match.
Famous quotes containing the words peter and/or jones:
“Ellie: By the way, whats your name?
Peter: Whats that?
Ellie: Who are you?
Peter: Who, me? Im the whippoorwill that cries in the night. Im the soft morning breeze that caresses your lovely face.
Ellie: Youve got a name, havent you?
Peter: Yeah, I got a name. Peter Warne.
Ellie: Peter Warne? I dont like it.”
—Robert Riskin (18971955)
“Strange goings on! Jones did it slowly, deliberately, in the bathroom, with a knife, at midnight. What he did was butter a piece of toast. We are too familiar with the language of action to notice at first an anomaly: the it of Jones did it slowly, deliberately,... seems to refer to some entity, presumably an action, that is then characterized in a number of ways.”
—Donald Davidson (b. 1917)
