Peter Jones (drummer)

Peter Robert Jones (21 April 1963 – 18 May 2012) was a Liverpool-born Australian session drummer, who replaced Paul Hester in Crowded House in 1994. After the band split up, he played in Deadstar with Caroline Kennedy and Nick Seymour, but did not return to Crowded House when they re-formed after Hester's death. He was also a member of Harem Scarem and Stove Top, and recorded with Melbourne rock band Lucy's Crown on their debut album.

He also played with Ross Hannaford, Rowland S. Howard, Lisa Miller, Kate Ceberano, Tinpan Orange and Melbourne musician David Hosking.

On the Crowded House Farewell To The World DVD, Neil Finn mentions that Jones was a school teacher (at Roxburgh College, Victoria, Australia).

Jones died from brain cancer on 18 May 2012 in Melbourne, aged 49.

Ellie: By the way, what’s your name?
    Peter: What’s that?
    Ellie: Who are you?

    Ellie: You’ve got a name, haven’t you?
Peter: Yeah, I got a name. Peter Warne.
Ellie: Peter Warne? I don’t like it.
