Peter Canavan - Late Senior Career

Late Senior Career

Tyrone were one of the favourites for the 2002 All-Ireland, having won their first National Football League in the spring, but ended up losing a qualifying match to Sligo, even though Canavan scored six points on the day. That particular defeat stunned him so much, he considered retiring Inter County football. Famous quotes containing the words late, senior and/or career:

All my life I believed I knew something. But then one strange day came when I realized that I knew nothing, yes, I knew nothing. And so words became void of meaning ... I have arrived too late at ultimate uncertainty.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

I suffer whenever I see that common sight of a parent or senior imposing his opinion and way of thinking and being on a young soul to which they are totally unfit. Cannot we let people be themselves, and enjoy life in their own way? You are trying to make that man another you. One’s enough.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Clearly, society has a tremendous stake in insisting on a woman’s natural fitness for the career of mother: the alternatives are all too expensive.
    Ann Oakley (b. 1944)
